Housed in a former mechanic’s workshop in Trastevere, Freni e Frizioni helped redefine Rome’s modern aperitivo culture. The atmosphere is busy, democratic and deliberately informal, with guests spilling onto the square outside, while the cocktail programme has become increasingly experimental. It proves that ambitious drinks do not require hushed rooms or formal service.
