Just off Edinburgh's Haymarket, Old Pal is a neighbourhood bar with an unexpectedly serious approach to drinks. Carefully made cocktails, a substantial whisky selection and contemporary comfort food share the space, making it as useful for one excellent Martini as for a longer evening. The team has earned local industry recognition, including Best Restaurant Bar at the 2025 Edinburgh Bar Awards, with bartender Freya Kemp named Rising Star. It feels relaxed rather than ceremonial, but the drinks credentials are real.
